Medium to large hardy shrub from coastal/mountain heathlands with large spectacular orange flowers in mid autumn. Featured in Tales of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie by May Gibbs May Gibbs in 1918. The "big bad" Banksia Men are the villains of the story and are modelled on the appearance of aged Banksia "cones".
